Some of the most noticeable differences between Towle's Magnum and the original Magnum from Norway.

  • The fork shown on the top is by Towle.
  • The fork shown on the bottom is by Norstaal
  • Tines are fairly straight
  • Tines have a pronounced curvature

  • The knife shown on the top is by Towle.
  • The knife shown on the bottom is by Norstaal.
  • No serration's
  • Has a finely serrated edge and a very sharp blade. Some older Norwegian Magnum knives are not serrated..

  • The soup spoon shown on the top is by Towle.
  • The soup spoon shown on the bottom is by Norstaal
  • The spoon bowl has a slight tear drop shape - it is not quite as round as the Norwegian Magnum
  • The spoon bowl has a much rounder appearance. It is hard to show, but there is more of a curvature in the handle than you will find in the Towle spoon.

  • Made in Korea using an 18/10 stainless
  • Forged in Norway of 18/8 stainless
  • Moderately Priced
  • Expensive
  • Deep Satin which has no reflective properties.
  • Light Satin finish which retains some reflective properties.

Which Magnum is right for you will depend largely if you have already started a set of Magnum. If you have Magnum with a Norway mark, you will want to stick with the Norstaal Magnum which will be a better match for the set you currently own.
